Autumn 2023

Stroud Wool Days - Autumn Fiesta
I'm delighted to be joining in this annual event with a day of workshops at Weven on Sunday 15th October.
Run by Stroudwater Textiles Trust, the Wool Days are a celebration of wool and weaving and the district's rich textiles history. With talks, workshops, poetry, children's events, history brought to life, knitting challenges, a walk and film showing, there are events happening across the Stroud valleys and something for everyone to enjoy.
Bookings for Saori workshops Sunday 15th October
Sessions are 10.30am-12.30pm and 2.30-4.30pm

I'm also very happy to be taking part in the new Autumn Arts Open Studios event alongside many talented local artists and makers across the Stroud Valleys. It's a great opportunity to visit the Wayward Weaves studio, see the looms in action, hear about the philosophy behind SAORI and view some wonderful weavings.
The event runs over two weekends - 14/15th and 21/22nd October, 10am-6pm
Pop in anytime - it will be great to see you!
*Darning Workshop*
The Autumn Arts brochure mistakenly lists my contact details for the Darning Workshop on Saturday 14th October. If you're interested in this (and I think it looks great!) you can get more info and book via The Meadows.

Out & About

My SAORI looms are highly portable and can be used in a wide variety of settings.
I can bring up to four looms and a variety of colourful yarns to the venue of your choice, or arrange a venue if required.
A SAORI workshop is a fun and unusual idea for a birthday or other celebration and is ideal way for craft groups to try out weaving without having to invest in all of the equipment.
Please email or call 07815 712 792 for more info.
"What Can I make?"
SAORI woven cloth can be made into a wide variety of items, including scarves, bags, wall-hangings, clothing, cushions, rugs, bunting, table runners, flags, community banners and more. Often it is good to try sitting at the loom with an open mind, choosing the colours and yarns as you go along and only deciding an end purpose once the weaving has been taken off the loom and it's qualities revealed.
SAORI weaving is enjoyed by people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds across the world. The Piccolo loom is suitable for even very young children to use; attachments are available for people with physical disabilities to weave and some of the most extraordinary and imaginative SAORI weavings are produced by people with learning disabilities.
